Mormon Truth Podcast #14-An Interview With Jared, A Mormon Apologist-Part 1

MP3 File

This is part 1 of 4, of an interview with a guy named Jared. Eric(a very fanatical Evangelical), from "The Living Truth Podcast", invited both Jared and myself, onto his show, so that we could all share our views on Mormonism. Jared is a current, faithful, active, member of the Mormon Church and wanted to explain his view on things and where Eric and I are going wrong in our analysis of the Mormon Church. javascript:void(0)

In part 1, Jared explains why he wanted to come on the show with both of us, and he also gives his description of how the Mormon Church came to be. We discussed the First Vision, the apostasy, and the differences between the Bible and Book of Mormon. We also discussed the fact that God the Father lives on or near Kolob and has polygamous wives, according to official Mormon doctrine.

Eric and I also brought up the fact that there is not one shred of "REAL" evidence, of any kind, of the Book of Mormon people, battles, wars, cities, etc, especially in and around the Hill Cumorah in New York, where it should be plentiful. We also asked Jared who the Lamanites are and where they are located, since the Book of Mormon was written primarily and specifically for them, according to the title page. I think that you guys will really enjoy this a lot!!

Thanks again everyone for listening and stay tuned for parts 2-4, coming soon.

I think part 1 was well done. Jared does indeed sounds like a nice person, however, he sounds exactly like a pure Mormon apologist, that is he is saying the mainstream drivel.

He twists and spins his OWN prophets' words as tight as a pretzel.

At least he came on the show, which I think shows a bit of interest in talking over issues. I wonder why such a seemingly bright person can believe in that cult.

Oh well, each to his own. I enjoy your show.

Jared sounds sincere. He must honestly believe somehow. It's mental gymnastics I could never do.

Given that he subscribes to the "limited geography" theory, how does he explain the issue of Zelph?

I would be curious how anyone could explain the limited geography theory and the occurence of a "lamanite" 2000 miles away.

Yeah, I've read the FARMS explanations. What a bunch of garbage.

I kept thinking after he dodged issue after issue that “trying to pin down a Mormon as to what he stands for is like trying to nail jello to a tree.” The best part in part 1 of the podcast is when Eric points out that admitting there is absolutely no evidence that the Book of Mormon is a historical record and yet still believing it is on faith for its message (as Jared does) is like believing C.S. Lewis’s book The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a true history; and just because archeology can’t locate the people or place called Narnia (just as there’s no evidence of Zarahelma) doesn’t mean we should believe in Narnia. - Bill at www.geocities.com/exmormon2000
